I lived in Chicago for years...when their street dept started a job they put resources on it and finished it quickly.
There has been construction on my street for the past three weeks. At the end of the day, cones and equipment are moved to make the most room for traffic. During the day, workers will stop when they are able to move to let me through. Very considerate and the street is looking great!
It is one thing to watch the terrible "work" of our streets department around town...BUT when they come in and remove the street in front of your house and then barely work on it for 10 days...(four guys standing around watching one guy work for half an hour doesn't count)...when I asked when they would pour the concrete yesterday the guy told me it might be yesterday...well here it is almost noon today and no crew!
The guy yesterday said they have two other jobs to pour....well street dept here is a thought...how about concentrating on a manageable level of work so you don't have a 70 year having to carry groceries to his home for 10 days...walk through the rain, etc.
