Every teacher here is wonderful, but you have to be respectful to them, otherwise they might not appear so nice. (Rightfully so!) They lay down the law and make their expectations clear. They really do want every student succeed. As one of my favorite teachers would put it, it’s “tough love”, and she’s absolutely right. There are many opportunities for extra help before and after school, and teachers are constantly checking their emails. All you have to do is take action and ask for help. There are also many opportunities to take advanced classes, but you need to prove yourself to be a part of them. You must display an array of independent thinking skills, have outstanding test scores, get work done on time and correctly, and have the self motivation skills and commitment to take part in such demanding classes.
Whenever there are problems with students that may be affecting you, you should address the problem, because the administration will get on the case right away. They will make sure that the conflict is stopped, and if it doesn’t stop, they’ll keep trying until it does. All of the administrators are friendly, and Mrs. Conlon and Mrs. Globokar are amazing people. They will do what it takes to make Regis a comfortable and caring environment, and will treat you with the respect you deserve. I really can’t thank them enough.
Things have been rough for me, because I’ve recently been diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and ADHD. All of the teachers have been so caring, and always check up on me to make sure that I’m doing alright. They genuinely care about everyone’s wellbeing, and want to ensure that every student is successful. They will go the distance to make sure you’re happy, and will make changes if you’re not. I’m just going to make it clear that you must tell the teachers how you’re feeling, because even though it may feel like it sometimes, they’re not psychic, they can’t read your mind. I know that it takes a lot of courage to tell them, but it’s well worth it. I also get to have meetings with the teachers to let them know how I’ve been feeling overall, and what they could possibly do to help me feel more comfortable in the classroom setting.
I am an 8th grader at Regis, and I absolutely love it. I’m not one of the trendy kids, and I’m not in any sports, either. I’m a musical dork, I want to be a professional concert pianist, I watch anime, and I listen to tøp, P!ATD, MCR, and other “emo” bands. I only have a few really close friends, but most of the students here are kind and respectful. We may not be the most diverse school, but the majority of students are very respectful and accepting of everyone, contrary to popular belief.
(Just a side note; I know our mock trial team gets pegged as cocky quite often, but we really aren’t. We just want to win like the rest of you. We work very hard to do that, and we always try to act with professionalism. Professionalism may come off as cockiness, but we are just trying to do well. We are super chill people once you get to know us, trust me.)
I think the key to being successful at Regis is to always be respectful and to take initiative. I love it there so much, and this year has been wonderful for me. Thank you to everyone who has been there for me, I greatly appreciate it. I’m looking forward to a successful second semester, as well as being successful in high school.
Best school ever! I love going to Regis because everyone is super nice and welcoming. The teachers are cool and the people I’ve met are awesome.
No matter where you go, there will always be people who get on your nerves, but truthfully, even the people who get on my nerves can be really nice. I get non-sarcastic compliments from them all of the time! It surprised me when I first transferred to Regis, but now I know it’s just the friendly community of people. I got my hair cut short so I could feel more self-confident. While the kids at my old school were calling me names over social media and making a huge deal out of something so small, the Regis students, some of which I had never even talked to, were so kind about it. It was really cool!
